Yayoi Kusama (EN)

Yayoi Kusama is one of the most influential figures in contemporary art and has achieved cult status through her exploration of repetitive patterns and structures. She is famous for her characteristic polka dots and mirror rooms, which immerse viewers in seemingly infinite worlds. This catalog book, which accompanies Kusama's retrospective in Riehen/Basel, Cologne, and Amsterdam, showcases the wide range of media the artist has worked with over the years: painting, sculpture, installation, drawing, collage, happenings, live performance, fashion, and literature. The exhibition was organized in close collaboration with the artist and her studio and offers a comprehensive overview of Kusama's more than seven decades of work. In addition to some of her iconic works, the exhibition and catalog also feature early works that have never been seen in Europe, as well as new productions.
