How to love a homeland - Oxana Timofeeva

Russian writer and philosopher Oxana Timofeeva was born and raised in various parts of the former USSR. This book explores the complexity of defining one’s homeland as merely a nation-state, examining the philosophical interplay between movement and rootedness, our plant and animal natures, and the need to reimagine our homelands - even as fictional constructs, if necessary. Blending childhood vignettes from across the Soviet Union with philosophical reflections, Timofeeva engages with ideas of homeland as explored in the works of Brecht, Deleuze and Guattari, among other key figures in literature and philosophy.
