Food is Fiction

Interspersed with a series of stories and many nicely assorted vintage photos, Food is Fiction spotlights the overlooked role of food designers in the food industry. The designers’ part is mainly to transform food into marketable products that attract our attention and make our mouth water through their creative aesthetics, stories and illusions. Eventually, the designer plays a key role in determining which products we pick up in the supermarkets and grocery stores. This book goes into detail – wether it's about early marketing campaigns, gastrophysics, astronaut food or food pornography – and raises questions about the future of the industry and our relation to food in general.
